Launch of EVOLVE

National Show and Shine Oct 4th 2015

A BMX display, a wide range of music and the public launch of a brand new logo were some of the highlights of the EVOLVE Youth of Strathbogie’s work at last week’s Australian National Euroa Show and Shine.

Part of the state government’s Freeza program, Strathbogie Shire Council’s youth committee facilitated two staged areas (music and a BMX/skate and scooter demonstration) at the Euroa Skate Park on Kirkland Avenue.

Malachi Wild, the MC for the day, introduced local talent including emerging artist Arinthia, Evolve Youth member Jared Tilton and special guest and The X Factor contestant Anthony Lucas, who braved the hot weather to belt out some power ballads.

Longwood resident John, known as ‘Jammy’ to his fans, took advantage of the Open Mic session and Arinthia’s guitar to wow the crowd with some soulful tunes.

Over at the skate park, the action was kicked off by Euroa local Jacman Hinss, who took some time out to entertain and enthral a group of dedicated fans before heading off for a month-long trip to ride over in the USA.

Jacman was joined by the talented Bangers and Thrash, from Mitchell Shire Council, who brought their skateboards and scooters to tear up the local ramp.

Evolve are planning a future skate workshop with Bangers and Thrash in 2016.

In between demonstrations, the skate park was open for local riders to have a go themselves which motivated them to create their own display in the future.

The highlight of the day for all involved was the public launch of the new EVOLVE brand, which would not have been possible without the long, hard hours of dedication by the youth committee and Daniel Capobianco from Green Creative who have worked on the project for the last 10 months.

Deputy Mayor Colleen Furlanetto, who helped unveil the new logo, said it was certainly a busy space around the Euroa Citizen Band Hall and skate park area at the Show and Shine.

“The Strathbogie Shire youth committee looked great in their red T-shirts sporting their new EVOLVE logo,” she said.

“Evolve is such a great name, design and philosophy which will be a strong foundation for the growth of our valued youth program. Looking forward to watching EVOLVE evolve!”

EVOLVE will be supporting McHappy Day at McDonald’s Euroa and, together with VOLUME Youth Committee (Mitchell Shire), will jointly be delivering the Battle of the Bands regional final on November 21.

If you live in the Shire of Strathbogie and are aged between 12-25 years, you can be part of the EVOLVE Youth Committee.
