Strathbogie Shire Winter Wonderland a Resounding Success

4 Sep 2024

This year’s Winter Wonderland event was a remarkable success, drawing over 2,000 participants across the three sites in Nagambie, Avenel, and Euroa.

The event reflected the resilience and unity of the community, with joy and connection evident across all three weekends. Winter Wonderland brought together people not just from the local towns but from the wider region as well.

Beyond the festivities, Winter Wonderland had a significant impact on the local economy. The influx of visitors, providing a vital boost, helping flood-affected towns to recover and thrive while showcasing the region as a premier destination. This success was made possible through the generous support of the Community Recovery Hub.

The Community Recovery Hub is a joint initiative of the Australian and Victorian Governments through the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA), the event was designed to foster community connection and stimulate economic development in towns affected by the October 2022 floods.

Special recognition goes to Bill and Helen Stubbs for their generous contribution of allowing the use of their private property on Binney Street, Euroa, as one of the event’s key locations. Their support was crucial in ensuring the Euroa segment of Winter Wonderland was a resounding success.

Strathbogie Shire Council extends its sincere thanks to everyone who attended and contributed to making Winter Wonderland 2024 such a success. Council looks forward to continuing to bring the community together with more events in the future and is excited about what lies ahead for the shire.
