Nagambie’s Local Emergency Action Plans Nearing Completion

14 Aug 2024

When a local emergency occurs, it’s often local knowledge that assists first responders. Nagambie’s draft Local Emergency Action Plan (LEAP) has been prepared by a Nagambie Steering Group, and now they are seeking your input.

This LEAP Steering Group has developed a draft document following a community meeting in June, and it is now available for review on the Strathbogie Shire’s engagement hub at www.Share.Strathbogie.vic.gov.au.

If you have any suggestions for dealing with emergencies, the Nagambie LEAP Steering Group encourages you to provide your comments online to assist in the finalisation of this document.

Administrator Peter Stephenson noted that the Steering Group’s information gathered from the community meeting, is now condensed into the draft LEAP document that Nagambie residents can view online.

‘This is our fifth township emergency action plan that Council officers have prepared, and I am so proud of the communities who have developed their plans. It is the input from locals that makes these plans effective, and in the event of an emergency, whatever it may be, having a plan to assist the community is crucial.

‘These Local Emergency Action Plans play a key role in identifying risks within local communities and helping them be prepared for and recover from emergency events. The Nagambie community deserves commendation for their willingness to be part of the LEAP program,’ Mr. Stephenson added.

All feedback is required no later than 5:00pm on Friday, 13 September 2024. These suggestions will then be reviewed by the Nagambie LEAP Steering Group before the plan is finalised for publication.

Copies of the draft plan can be viewed at the Customer Contact Centre during working hours, Monday to Friday, at 293 High Street, Nagambie, or for further information, please call our Customer Contact team at 1800 065 993.
