Euroa Township Strategy

Council is currently preparing a township strategy for Euroa, the first step in the process is an Issues & Opportunities Report which has been prepared.

The Issues and Opportunities Report is now being released for community consultation and input. The purpose of the Issues and Opportunities Report is to allow the early consideration and confirmation of key directions by Council and the community, prior to detailed work being undertaken as part of the formation of the Township Strategy.

This project needs input from everyone who has an interest in the future of Euroa as the Strategy will draw heavily on the thoughts, aspirations and ideas of the community. Council is seeking input on all aspects of the document, but in particular is seeking detailed input regarding what can potentially be undertaken to improve the function and feel of the Euroa Town Centre (aka Binney Street) and its surrounds.

Some key questions Council is seeking feedback on are listed below. However Council welcomes and encourages all community comments and input regarding the future of Euroa.

Jump on Council's OurSay complete the survey or post an idea or comment on the forum.

Alternatively, you may write to Council’s Planning Department or drop in and visit us at our conversation café in the main street on Thursday 23 August and address the key questions below.

Key questions to inform the preparation of the Euroa Township Strategy are:

  • What is the preferred look, feel, and design of the Euroa town centre in the future?
  • What types of commercial activity, business and services are wanted/ needed?
  • What is the traffic function of Binney Street and what are the largest vehicles it is intended to cater for?
  • Should new larger format development respond to the town’s existing built form character to ‘sit’ sensitively within the Main Street context?
  • What alternate forms of housing are wanted/ required to provide opportunity to ‘age in place’? (i.e. dual occupancy, villa units etc).
  • Where should alternate forms of housing be located to assist with ‘aging in place’? (i.e. within a short walking distance to Euroa Town Centre).
  • Is upgrading pedestrian links over/ under the railway tracks a good idea?
  • Where would a priority pathway network to connect and improve linkages to key community assets be located throughout the town?
  • How should the commercially zoned land along McGuiness Street and Kirkland Avenue be best connected and incorporated with the existing town centre located on Binney Street?
