Celebrating Victorian Seniors Festival this October

Strathbogie Shire Council will offer a series of activities for seniors throughout October for Victorian Seniors Festival Reimagined.

The events will be held across the Shire, ensuring all seniors have access to an array of different opportunities to get out in the community.

The Euroa Community Cinema will host two screenings of Victorian Seniors Festival Performances on October 1 and 6.

There will also be chances to move your body with Mindful Movement sessions in Euroa, Nagambie, Violet Town, Longwood, Strathbogie, Avenel and Ruffy.

Many if the activities will be free with the exception of an incredible Water, Wine, Wetland and Walks day at Tahbilk Winery. This event will cost $10 and bookings can be made online.

Shire seniors will also get the chance to view the new Shepparton Art Museum on October 29 and attend an author talk at Harvest Home in Avenel on October 27.

Other events throughout the month include a singalong event to the Sound of Music at the Euroa Community Cinema, come-and-try sports days across various townships, a Treasure or Trash valuation day and a Wildflower Walk at the Euroa Arboretum.

Strathbogie Shire Council Mayor Cr Chris Raeburn encouraged senior community members to view the calendar of events.

“There is something for everyone’s taste throughout the month with a variety of activities on offer,” Cr Raeburn said.

“It is particularly important for our senior community, some of which are isolated and vulnerable, take this opportunity to reconnect after recent lockdowns.”

Community members are reminded that all events are subject to COVID restrictions.

“We are eagerly planning this event with regional Victoria currently coming out of restrictions and we hope to be able to host all planned activities,” Cr Raeburn said.

People are asked to register their attendance for the events due to the current limits on numbers via
