$79,000 Community Grants Program endorsed

Strathbogie Shire Council will be injecting over $79,000 into community projects, with the endorsement of the 2019-20 Community Grants Program at a recent Ordinary Council Meeting.

Funding has been allocated to 20different initiatives across the Strathbogie Shire in the coming financial year, including those relating to local arts and culture, environment and sustainability and facilities and infrastructure.

Strathbogie Shire Mayor Cr Amanda McClaren said the Community Grants Program is a fantastic initiative that empowers local community groups in the Strathbogie Shire.

“The Community Grants Program is all about giving our local groups the opportunity to make a positive contribution to their community and supporting them to bring their vision to reality,” Mayor McClaren said.

“We’d like to congratulate all of the groups who have applied for a community grant in the 2019-20 program; Council was very impressed with the standard of applications.”

Council awarded funding to 20 out of the 21 applications submitted, with one application referred to Council’s Event Sponsorship Program as a more appropriate funding stream for the application.

Mayor McClaren reminds the community Small Projects Grants of up to $1000 are available from 1st July 2019, for applicants that have missed the submission dates for Community Grants from other categories.

“Groups are only eligible to receive a Small Project Grant once per year and are not eligible for this grant if they are currently expending other Strathbogie Shire community grant funds,” Cr McClaren explained.

The following projects were funded in the 2019-20 Community Grants Program:

  • Violet Town & District Early Childhood Centre - $5,000 for Violet Town Kindergarten facilities upgrade
  • Violet Town Gallery Museum - $5,000 for split systems for the Art Gallery
  • Strathbogie Ranges Conservation Management Network - $5,000 for Bioluminescence Art/Science Project
  • Bogarts - $4,517 for Strathbogie Art Festival
  • Euroa Golf Club - $5,000 for kitchen improvements
  • Strathbogie Memorial Hall - $3,000 for P.A. upgrade
  • Strathbogie Tableland Landcare - $2,580 for Strathbogie Memorial Hall public potable water point
  • Avenel Primary School - $3,797 Greenhouse Sustainability Project
  • Strathbogie Historical Group - $1,628 for preserving, promoting and engaging with our local history and culture
  • Euroa Swimming Club - $5,000 for Euroa Pool Arts Project
  • Violet Town Bowls Club - $2,691 for green refurbishment
  • Euroa Croquet Club - $5,000 for boundary replacement
  • Nagambie Mechanics Institute - $5,000 for main hall painting
  • Euroa Environment Group - $2,350 Aboriginal Heritage Trail
  • Ruffy Artfest - $ 1,120 for Ruffy Artfest
  • Longwood Community Centre - $4,476 for internal lighting
  • Euroa Little Theatre- $5,000 for internal window blinds for the school house
  • Avenel Bowling Club- $4,294 to renew ditch banks around bowling green
  • Euroa Lions Club – $5,000 for Lions Park fencing
  • Kelvin View Public Hall and Recreation Reserve Committee - $4,000 for Kelvin View Hall upgrade
