Sustainable Strathbogie 2030 on public exhibition

Thursday, 11 April, 2019

What do you think Council and the community should be prioritising to protect and develop in Strathbogie Shire as the climate changes?

Council is calling on the community to review its Sustainable Strathbogie 2030 Strategy which is currently out for public feedback until 5pm Friday 3rd May.

Council encourages the community to read the draft strategy, post an idea or comment on the forum and complete the survey by clicking the Sustainable Strathbogie 2030 button on Council’s homepage www.strathbogie.vic.gov.au.

Strathbogie Shire Mayor Cr Amanda McClaren said the Sustainable Strathbogie 2030 Strategy is going to be Council’s road map to sustainably managing the shire’s natural and built environment.

“We feel, as community leaders, we have a responsibility to protect our environment and support our communities into a sustainable future,” Mayor McClaren explained.

“In this strategy we have focused on key areas of climate resilience, reducing carbon in the atmosphere, sensitively using water resources, building on our strong commitment to waste management, promoting an ecologically rich landscape and an active and connected community.

The draft strategy contains ambitious targets focusing on two key areas; both in Council’s own operations and helping our community across the Strathbogie Shire.

“This is a really important document, created by our Sustainable Development Reference Group and Council, that plans for our future and we’d love to hear your thoughts on our priority areas, the deliverables we’re setting out to achieve, or anything about climate change and ways we can all work together for a more sustainable future,” Cr McClaren said.

Council also encourages the community to come along to a drop-in session to provide feedback on the strategy:
