School holiday fun in Strathbogie Shire

Friday, 21 September, 2018

If you’re a parent you can appreciate how quickly the young ones get bored and restless during school holidays.

Well rest assured, there are a number of fun activities and events happening in the Strathbogie Shire to make sure the kids are kept entertained and social throughout the holiday period.

The Euroa Community Cinema has a lot to offer, with kids matinee movies back by popular demand.

Maya the Bee: The Honey Games will be screened on Wednesday, 26 September at 2pm and a Sensory Friendly Screening will also be held on Thursday, 27 September at 1pm.

Sensory Friendly Films cater to those living with Autism and other sensory needs by creating a more relaxed environment where children can get up and move around, and where the lights will be turned up and the sound turned down.

Luis and the Aliens will be kicking off in the second week of the holidays, with three screenings.

The first screening is on Wednesday, 3 October at 2pm, a Sensory Friendly Screening will be held on Friday, 5 October at 1pm and if you missed out during the week you can also enjoy the film on Saturday, 6 October at 4pm.

Council is also running a free school holiday program for all primary and secondary school aged children.

The program will be conducted by Council’s Community Wellbeing staff and will take place in Avenel, Euroa, Nagambie, Strathbogie and Violet Town.

This will provide young people the opportunity to get active and socialise with their peers, with fun activities including interactive and drama games, art and craft and free Wi-Fi.

There are further details below, and you can contact Inga Hamilton at Council Offices on 1800 065 993 for more information.

Our local libraries in Euroa, Nagambie and Violet Town also have plenty of free school holiday sessions including stop motion video, pipe cleaner ninjas, yarn monsters and hungry caterpillar craft.
