Footpath Trading

Footpath trading is an important part of the retail environment and can significantly add to the ambience and enjoyment of an area.
In regulating footpath activities, Council aims to provide a safe environment for people to move by creating a pedestrian zone for people of all abilities.

To ensure clear pedestrian access, footpaths of less than 2.9 metres cannot be used for trading purposes.

Council has a responsibility to regulate footpath trading activities. In doing so, Councill will be flexible with the issuing of permits to protect public safety but encourage diverse activities to take place.

Footpath Trading Guidance

We have created an information sheet with guidance on the conditions around footpath trading. This information will assist you to understand the requirements for placing objects on the footpath.
