$300,000 for community driven Pitch My Project initiatives

17 Jul 2024

Six projects through Strathbogie Shire Council’s $300,000 Pitch My Project initiative have been endorsed for delivery as part of the 2024/25 budget.

Now in its fourth year, the Pitch My Project initiative saw 15 projects presented to the community for a vote, with more than 450 people taking part across the shire.

This financial year, $50,000 has been allocated for projects across each of the six strategic focus areas in the Council Plan. In the past four years, Pitch My Project has supported more than 20 projects worth more than $1 million across the shire.

2024/25 projects

Euroa Strathbogie Shire Art Trail
Extend the public art trail in Euroa with a new piece of art to help create a vibrant art trail that showcases local artists and enhances cultural tourism.
Strathbogie Walking Path
Create a walking path on the eastern side of Spring Creek Road to provide a safe and scenic connection for locals and visitors between the Recreation Ground and Main Street.
This project is provisionally endorsed subject to further advice and direction from the Department of Environment, Energy and Climate Action regarding the impacts on native vegetation.
Euroa Branding Project Stage 2
Roll out of stage 2 of the Euroa branding project. A branding strategy was funded through last year’s Pitch My Project and is currently underway. The stage 2 works will be confirmed once the strategy is finalised. It is likely to include wayfinding signage to help further develop Euroa’s unique brand, foster community pride and attract more visitors to the area.
Longwood Nature Play Space Stage 2
Create an engaging and educational nature-inspired outdoor play area for children and families in Longwood and surrounding areas.
Avenel Memorial Hall
Install a standby generator to enable the hall to provide standby power and cooling in the event of simultaneous extreme heat and power outage.
Ruffy Tablelands Centre Verandah
Build a verandah at the Ruffy Tablelands Centre to enhance the usability of the space and provide a sheltered area for community gatherings and events.

Strathbogie Shire Council Administrator Peter Stephenson thanked the community for their participation and congratulated those communities who were successful this year.

“Just like setting the wider budget, Pitch My Project highlights the challenges of trying to prioritise investment across the municipality from the smaller rural localities through to the larger urban areas and ensuring alignment with strategic priorities in the Council Plan,” he said.

“Thank you to all the groups who put forward projects for consideration and thank you to everyone who took part in the voting online and through the survey stations across the shire.”
