The Bicentennial Park Play Space on Garrett Street in Euroa will be closed throughout July for a major facelift. The exciting new play equipment and bike education track were selected by the very users of the play space.

The Strathbogie Shire Council sought input for the park’s upgrade from kindergarten and primary school children. The survey results overwhelmingly indicated a desire for adventure play equipment and a new bike track.

Council Administrator Peter Stephenson said in February and March our staff engaged the youngest members of the community to make their equipment choices and I am so pleased to see the park revamp about to happen.

“There is no doubt that children’s play spaces are the hub for challenges and activity. To combine both adventure-play and an educational bike track in this area has been something the community has wanted for some time.

“The park will also have shade sails installed, which will be a bonus for play during our warmer summer months,” added Mr. Stephenson.

The $240,000 play space renewal is part of the 2023-24 Capital Works Budget. It follows upgrades at the Avenel and Creighton’s Creek playgrounds in recent years.

Council is currently seeking input on a longer-term strategy for play and open spaces across the municipality. Comments on draft Play and Open Space Strategy close on 17 July. For more information or to make a submission, please visit www.share.strathbogie.vic.gov.au or contact Council.
