Talk to the Administrator sessions reveal residents’ sentiments

10 May 2024

Strathbogie Shire Administrator Peter Stephenson recently engaged with residents over five Talk to the Administrator sessions across Violet Town, Avenel, Nagambie, Euroa, and Strathbogie.

Accompanied by Council’s CEO Julie Salomon and members of the Executive, these sessions, which commenced in February and continued through until last week, provided a direct avenue for residents to chat frankly with the Administrator.

Mr Stephenson heard a number of common themes and gained a deeper understanding of key municipal issues.

“While positive feedback on Council’s services was noted, the predominant message emphasised the need to address road conditions, drainage issues, and improve our commitment to a timely response to enquiries from residents,” Mr Stephenson said.

“I acknowledge the longstanding nature of some infrastructure challenges; however, I want to assure residents of ongoing efforts, including increased budget allocations for road works in the Draft 2024-25 Budget.

“Furthermore, funding has been received and work is about to commence for a Municipal Stormwater Strategy to reduce the impact of floods, flash flooding and storm surges on the community.

“This will provide direction on investment opportunities in both the public and private sector in relation to drainage and flood mitigation consideration for our growing townships,” he said.

The CEO and the Executive are committed to working with their teams on focussing on the 4C’s (Communications, Consultation, Community-based decisions, and Customer Service) with a strong focus on getting back to people.

These meetings have also served to promote the “Your CommUNITY, Your Voice” campaign, encouraging participation in the upcoming October Council elections.

Strathbogie Shire residents are encouraged to reach out to the Administrator through the Council’s Customer Service team on 03 5795 0000.

Residents can also have their say on the Draft 2024-25 Budget and Council Plan which is open for feedback on Council’s engagement hub https://share.strathbogie.vic.gov.au closing 5pm 24 May.
